With two decades of legal training and experience in New South Wales, Queensland and Commonwealth jurisdictions, Luke has particular expertise in Family Law and all areas of criminal law including bail, sentencing, appeals and mental health provisions.

Tested Experience

Luke has 20 years of experience in the criminal justice system. 

That experience includes four years as a criminal investigator, ten years as a senior prosecutor and Sergeant with the New South Wales Police Force and over four years as a practicing solicitor.

 

Luke was first called to the Queensland Bar in early 2024, and then the New South Wales Bar in 2025.

Luke has both prosecuted and defended hundreds of trials for matters ranging from traffic offences to drug supply, robbery and break and enter charges, sexual offences and serious assault matters.

In addition to his advocacy experience in criminal trials, Luke regularly appears in Local, Childrens, District and Supreme Courts for sentencing matters, appeals and bail applications. 

Luke is also regularly briefed for matters in the Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) for Property and Parenting matters.

Luke has appeared in numerous inquests and inquires and was awarded by the NSW Police Force for his advocacy during an inquest where the person of sufficient interest confessed to causing the death of the deceased. Following another inquest, Luke suggested Coronial recommendations which brought about a state-wide change to traffic light phasing to better protect pedestrians.

Before being called to the Bar, Luke was a director of a boutique law firm on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, then a sole practitioner in both Queensland and New South Wales.

 

While working as a solicitor, Luke provided representation as a criminal defence lawyer as well as in family law matters.

​Apart from being privately briefed, Luke has appeared for the Queensland Director of Public Prosecutions and represents clients for New South Wales Legal Aid on a number of panels including Summary Crime, Barrister's Indictable Crime, Children's Criminal, Mental Health and Domestic Violence.
